Maple Key Cyanotype Bandana

Cyanotype is a photographic process made by painting a surface with a UV-reactive solution, exposing that in the sun, and then rinsing the piece in water. Anywhere that the solution was not exposed washes out to white, and the remaining area develops into rich blue.

These bandanas are made with maple keys - the distinctive twin-winged seeds of maple trees. I love the patterns the keys create and the subtle peculiarities of shape of each seed.

Please handwash sparingly, making sure to use only gentle soap without phosphates, sodium, or bleach.

As each bandana is hand-made individually, the piece may contain small imperfections.
